Bas Moorkens

Hi, my name is Bas. I always was playing around with computers and thinkering with systems when I was a younger so I thought hey let's make my hobby into my job, right?
Over the years I have done several different jobs in IT ranging from software development to platform engineering.
Nowadays I spend most of my time working on cloud platforms and CI/CD solutions.
In my spare time I'm working on several hobby projects involving blockchain at the moment.
I'm available for small freelance projects or consulting gigs.

Feel free to contact me on any of my social media (or by plain old email) if you have any questions for me or just want to say hello.

Java software engineer

Mobistar, DHL, Nike

when I graduated school I started working as a java software engineer. For over 5 years I worked as a consultant for various companies in the Telco / logistics business.
I started off as a junior java engineer in 2011 and climbed the ladder to senior engineer by 2017. I also did some application architecture work in 2017/2018.

Platform engineer

when I grew in my role as software engineer it became obvious to me that the software engineering process is very complex and has lots of pitfalls. At this moment I took an interest in trying to improve that process.
This started with improving CI/CD solutions and went on into helping Nike redesign their entire application platform.
